Take a glimpse at the CEO programPosted On: February 5, 2019
The Career Education Opportunity program allows senior high school students who have good attendance to work at a local company during the school day to learn more about a career of their interest. Students must apply to the program, submit a resume to a participating company and interview for a position in a specific career field. A contract with a participating business is agreed upon and the student goes to the workplace for about 80 minutes every day during the semester. Students do such things as observe medical procedures; learn and review management policies; design engineering projects; and more. The program began in 2016- 17 with 17 students and 13 business partners, and it grew to 34 students and 22 business partners in 2017-18. This year, the program expanded to all three Van Wert County high schools and includes 56 students and 30 business partners. Many participants are getting local jobs after the internship is completed, which means they are more likely to stay in our community.
