POSITION OVERVIEW: A Sales Engineer has the responsibility of initiating customer contact, hunting to create prospects, and converting prospects into sales opportunities. The Sales Engineer is also responsible for key account management and growing the existing customers via building opportunities from within each established Account. A Sales Engineer will utilize the Alliance Proven Process to properly cultivate each Sales Project Opportunity.

30% of your day is spent identifying and helping current customers solve automation problems which may include:Learning technical details and knowing how to apply available resourcesDocumenting and relaying to the Engineering and Applications team the customer requirementsMaintaining and growing current customer relationships50% of your day is spent identifying and developing new leads and pursuing opportunitiesCold calling/prospectingIdentifying and vetting opportunities through marketing and inside salesCustomer visitsNew business development – 5 new prospects weekly20% of your day is spent working alongside inside resources in a team environmentKeeping track of current projects and maintaining timelinesProviding feedback on quotes and developments within customers
Highest level of integrity, EQ, and sales acumenPossess a winning and creative approach to identifying customer solutionsBe able to convey complex thought via verbal or written examplesHistory of maintaining key accounts and prospecting successProven ability to continually develop and contact prospective customersSome overnight travel will be required up to 35%2-5 years of previous industrial sales experienceKnowledge of industrial automation solutionsA four-year degree in engineering or a technical discipline – preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)Results-driven and ambitiousExcellent organization, time-management, and communication skillsStrong customer focus and the ability to work on your own initiativeStrong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, & PowerPointCRM experience is a plus
