Quality Engineer

Now is a great time to join our Quality Team in Van Wert! This Sr. Quality Engineer position will lead quality projects engaging customers, manufacturing operations, and suppliers leveraging problem solving techniques to improve and sustain plant quality performance metrics. Key driver of quality improvements within our site which will have a direct impact with customers and supply base as an integral part of our business in the drive for zero defects quality performance.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Being part of a New Product and Process Development Project Team to ensure Danfoss Product Development Process (PDP) is followed and performing activities in order to provide Project Team with required deliverables
• Review and agree on Change Requests related activities established for suppliers, engineering and operations before signed by Quality Manager
• Develop and maintain documentation and tools required by our Quality Management System in an area of responsibility. Assure continuous improvement and standardization (in compliance with IATF 16949 Requirements).
• Perform Manufacturing Process Audits according to an Audit plan in compliance with customer requirements.
• Review and support completion of customer PPAPs or FAI documentation. Review and validate supplier PPAP submissions.
• Lead/support validation of the implementation of corrective / improvement actions across our value stream (supplier, plant, customer) when needed, to assess effectiveness of improvements.
• Monitor customer / supplier performance on a timely manner to proactively address potential issues.

What We’re Looking For

Required (basic) qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution
• 3~5 years of Quality experience required
• Inspection and testing equipment knowledge and experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specifications (GD&T), process control plans, PFMEA’s, routers, job instructions, standardize work, and basic statistical methods
• Proficient in AIAG Core Tools (PPAP, APQP, MSA, SPC and FMEA)

Preferred qualifications

• ASQ Certification (CQE, CMQ/OE)
• Six-Sigma Greenbelt certification desired.
• Certified internal auditor (IATF16949 desired)
• 8D Problem Solving methods experience
• Fabrication, machining, and assembly knowledge and experience is preferred
• Experience in the use of SAP (ERP system)
• Must have skills and proficiencies in use of computers, writing and oral communications.
