About Vantage Career Center and the Ohio Technical Center for Adult Education

Vantage Career Center serves high school students from 13 area schools as well as adults in the surrounding area.  In 2013, the district’s facility underwent a $34 million renovation and expansion project.  High school students can choose from 17 different career technical programs, including a national Exemplary Award-winning welding program.  Vantage offers nationally recognized curriculum taught by industry experts using advanced technology and equipment in a “hands-on” learning environment.  Our instructors teach both technical and academic skills for high demand careers.  Our high school students exceed US Department of Education high performance targets in academic achievement, technical skill attainment, and positive post-program placement.  Approximately 40% of Vantage graduates attend college.  Students can participate in home high school extracurricular activities while attending Vantage and also have the opportunity to connect with and enrich their community through career-focused service projects.

Graduates Have Many Options:

  • Enter the workforce immediately after graduation with skills learned in a specific career technical program
  • Enter apprenticeship programs with an available employer
  • Attend a two or four-year college or university
  • Join a branch of the military service

A typical high school schedule at Vantage includes half of the school day in a career technical lab or mentoring experience and half of the school day in academic and related classes.

Students are presented with a career technical certificate in their Career Passport at the annual Vantage Senior Awards Ceremony. Graduation takes place at the home school.

The Ohio Technical Center at Vantage connects adult learners with full-time and part-time training programs to help them increase skills or prepare for a new career.  Refresher courses and self-paced online courses are also provided by the OTC at Vantage.  In addition, the OTC can provide information about ABLE and GED, assessment services, or customized training for local employers.  The Ohio Technical Center also offers an array of Adult Workforce Education training and Adult High School Diploma options. Industry training, certifications, credentials, licenses and college credits are available through a partnership with Northwest State Community College.
