Accounts Specialist (Van Wert Campus)

Summary

Applications are being accepted for an Accounts Specialist at Northwest State Community College. The primary purpose of this job is to take and process payments and to assist in the daily collection of revenue. Hours/days will vary due to operational situations and special events. This position will be based at our Van Wert Campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for all payment and receivable processing, including monitoring student accounts, sending monthly statements for in-house collections efforts, monitoring aging hold codes on accounts, and sending uncollected accounts to the State of Ohio Attorney General Collection unit.
2. Process vendor invoices in conjunction with the Business Office (Main Campus), including P-cards, Requisitions, and Purchase Order approvals.
3. Responsible for the daily processing of receipts and payments.
4. Establish and maintain a variety of accounting records and student files, including financial aid.
5. Maintain and process payment plan contracts and deferment plans to include sending reminders, applying late fees, and in-house collection efforts.
6. Provide excellent customer service while answering questions and providing guidance to learners and visitors.
7. Manage records retention and scanned archives.
8. Assist with data entry, statements, reporting, correspondences, and administrative tasks as needed.
9. Manage inventory for vending and the bookstore.
10. Maintain and evaluate driving records for insurance purposes.
11. Process petty cash requests.
12. Oversee the scheduling of rooms in the college for both internal and external usage.
13. Initiate Rave notifications for weather and emergency alerts.
14. Other similar duties as assigned.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
• Associate’s degree required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a customer service/business field is also required.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps programs.
• Ability to work independently.
• Proficiency and the willingness to assume responsibility for the accuracy of work performed.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and understand FERPA.
• Ability to relate to others courteously.
• Must be organized and possess basic accounting skills.

Position is in frequent contact with the public, students, and other NSCC employees.
