Workforce Eligibility Referral Specialist II

Summary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

High School Diploma or GED. Strong written and verbal communication skills, be skillful in problem solving, and be able to develop and present new ideas to unique issues as they arise. You must be highly adaptable to change, organized, ability to meet multiple deadlines, and want to make a difference in the lives of youth and adults in the community. Previous experience with case management and social services programs preferred.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Under the direct supervision of an OMJ supervisor, responsible for assessing, referring, assigning and case managing all OMJ programs and referrals. Collaboration with families, providers, schools, and the community to develop and implement strategies that educate and train individuals to gain life skills. This position will also work with the Prevention, Retention, Contingency (PRC) Program, Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA) Adult and Youth Caseloads, and Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA). Adhere to state required mandates and submit required documentation in required timeframes. Collect data, compile and prepare statistical reports as requested. Respond to all inquiries and correspondence from individuals and other agencies in a timely manner: Answering telephones, checking voicemail, checking e-mails, and assisting individuals in the OhioMeansJobs Center. Maintain knowledge of current program policies by reading manuals, polices and other correspondence. Maintain confidentiality of all individual’s information according to policies. Agency hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Receive applications and conduct face-to-face, and telephone interviews with individuals in need of OMJ programs and services. Educate individuals on policies, procedures, rights and responsibilities, and information relevant to OMJ programs and services. Evaluate applications/re-applications to determine initial and/or on-going eligibility for all OMJ programs. Assess individuals to determine barriers to self-sufficiency. Create individualized plans for self-sufficiency, specifying goals and objectives for individuals, provide case management and supportive service. Monitor and revise plans for self-sufficiency for each individual as needed to set goals and support progress. Ensure accurate case files.
