St. Mary’s has been educating the students of greater Van Wert area since 1959. St. Mary’s is a fully accredited, non-public, chartered school that meets all the Ohio Department of Education requirements. Even though our enrollment has increased over the last few years, we are still able to offer smaller class sizes. This enables our teachers to differentiate their instruction to meet the learning needs and levels of all our students. Students also have many opportunities to receive one on one instruction where needed. We offer weekly specialty classes in music, art, physical education, and technology. We are also able to provide special needs services such as Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy.
Our experienced staff is fully licensed by the Ohio Department of Education and consists of caring, compassionate individuals that are committed to staying informed of and implementing 21st century learning methods in their classrooms. We offer students a curriculum that incorporates the Catholic faith, challenges our students to use critical thinking skills, and creates an enduring understanding of the material that fits the needs of all our students. Our student’s self-confidence and social skills are developed through group collaboration and project-based learning experiences. Students also gain an understanding of socially appropriate behaviors and demonstrate respect for others.
