Behavioral Health Technician

Summary

Position Summary

Woodlands Grove Recovery Campus is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our team. The BHT provides direct support to clients throughout their recovery journey by promoting a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. This role works closely with the clinical and nursing teams to encourage client engagement, monitor well-being, and support daily program operations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and support to clients in residential treatment.
  • Build positive, therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Monitor client behavior and report significant observations or concerns to the clinical team.
  • Conduct routine safety checks and ensure compliance with campus policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate client participation in scheduled groups, activities, meals, and appointments.
  • Assist with admissions, orientations, and discharge processes.
  • Perform and document client observations accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts and de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment.
  • Participate in shift reports, staff meetings, and ongoing training.
  • Uphold client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, healthcare, or human services is preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings, or overnight shifts as needed.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery principles.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention.
  • Strong teamwork and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
