AGV/AMR Controls Engineer (Mandarin/Chinese Language Proficiency Required)

Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW: We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Controls Engineer specializing in designing and implementing Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). We are looking for a skilled AGV/AMR Engineer to join our team and contribute to developing and deploying cutting-edge automation technologies. The AGV/AMR Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end development, integration, and support of AGV and AMR systems. This role requires a deep understanding of automation technology, system integration, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience in programming, system specification, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. Proficiency in Mandarin or other Chinese languages/dialects is required to support our diverse customer base.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. System Specification
    1. Collaborate with end users to review applications and specify solutions to meet customer requirements
    2. Perform a site survey of customer facilities to confirm the feasibility
    3. Work with customers to specify the number and types of vehicles and charges to meet requirements
    4. Works with IT professionals to verify and recommend network architecture for successful deployment
    5. Support applications and sales teams in the quoting phase of projects
  2. Software Development
    1. Completes mapping and navigation programming using SLAM technology
    2. Familiarity of sensor technology used in AMR applications such as LIDAR, RFID, and vision systems
    3. Utilizes fleet management software for vehicle dispatching and priority planning
  3. System Integration:
    1. Utilize PLC coding software to integrate AGV/AMR systems with customers’ existing equipment
    2. Develop code to integrate into existing manufacturing enterprise and warehouse management systems software
    3. Sets up networking for communication to vehicles, peripheral equipment, and fleet management servers
    4. Utilizes standards such as ANSI/RIA to deploy autonomous mobile robot
  4. Testing and Troubleshooting
    1. Diagnose and resolve issues related to AMR systems and their integration with other technologies
    2. Provide on-site and remote support to ensure the reliable operation of AGV/AMR systems
  5. Training and Documentation
    1. Create comprehensive documentation for AGV/AMR systems, including user manuals and integration guides
    2. Conduct training sessions for customers and internal teams to ensure the proper use and maintenance of AGV/AMR systems
    3. Communicate effectively in Mandarin or other Chinese languages/dialects to support training and documentation for Chinese-speaking clients
Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in programming languages relevant to AGV/AMR technology (e.g., C/C++, Python)
  • Proficiency in PLC coding and experience with industrial automation systems
  • Strong understanding of AGV/AMR technologies and network architecture
  • R&D experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Mandarin or other Chinese languages/dialects (both written and spoken) is required for customer support and documentation

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position will require up to 40% travel to client sites and other company locations
  • The role involves working in both office and industrial environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols and standards
