Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Pulmonology Clinic

The CMA/LPN provides care under the direction of a physician.  Attends daily clinical huddles as part of the Care Team and is familiar with the team-based approach.  Assists in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient needs.  Renders to patients in a physician office setting.  Assists physician with diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, assuring procedures are provided in a safe, clean, competent manner/environment.  Maintains a clean, safe, well-stocked nursing area, including patient examination rooms.  Maintains a complete, accurate, and legible medical record reflecting the patient’s condition, medication, treatment, and any other pertinent information relevant to total patient care (calling in prescriptions, patient telephone calls, communicating patient requests and complaints to physician or appropriate personnel, follow-through of physician orders according to defined office protocol.)  Functions independently and assumes responsibility for actions in clinical procedures in accordance with ability and training after such clinical ability has been demonstrated and documented.  Maintains a working knowledge of business office protocol/procedure.  Provides clinical telephone triage/communication as defined by protocol or per physician instructions.  Attends continuing education in-services to maintain medical assisting expertise
