Summary

Job Title:  LPN

 Reports To:  Resident Services Director/Executive Director

Location:  Homestead At Towne Center

 Status:  Non-exempt

SUMMARY

 Provides residents with nursing services and administers medications and treatment in accordance with physicians’ orders within state licensure regulations.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides assistance under the direct supervision of the Resident Service Director. 1 to 2 years Assisted Living experience preferrable. Shares weekly call – every other week rotation. Able to work every other weekend and every other holiday. Supervises staff and delegates job duties for completion. Maintains staffing for License Staff.

Oversees staffing for Medication Assistants and Nursing Assistants. Performs potential residents’ evaluations, working closely with the Marketing Director. Completes evaluations, sub-evaluations, and nursing service plans. Computer skills a must. Maintains medical records, including chart thinning and filing.

Communicates daily with Physicians and Families. Observes resident mealtimes. Maintains Limited Nursing Services Logs. Medication observations with License Staff and Medication Assistants. Ensures medication rooms and wellness centers are organized. Monitors 11-7 and ensures AED checks and refrigerator temperatures are completed.

Able to oversee daily clinical operations and provide staff support. Works well with others and provides critical thinking during emergency situations. Works closely with HR regarding interviews, orientation, and education.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience preferred and/or training in direct service with older adults, or equivalent combination of education and experience. In accordance with state law, may need to possess current state certification and follow regulations to maintain license currency.

Knowledge of dementia particularly of the Alzheimer’s type is helpful.

 LANGUAGE SKILLS

 Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to residents, residents’ families, and other employees of the company. Ability to effectively communicate in English.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized environment.
