Safety Specialist – 3rd shift

Cooper Farms is seeking a 1st and 2nd shift Safety Assistant to join our team in Van Wert.

The main goals of this position are to assist the Safety Manager in the administrative functions of the Safety Department as well as promote the safety and future growth of the company. Act as liaison between team members, supervisors, managers, and the safety manager on safety-related needs.

SHIFT HOURS: (1st shift) Monday through Friday 6:30am–3:30pm

(2nd shift) Monday through Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm

Job Functions:

Provide new team member safety orientation, as well as other authorized safety training as needed. Maintain training records for all team members, reporting training needs through Industry Safe System to ensure all training requirements are met. Input incident reports and investigations into Industry Safe System and send out weekly summary reports. Perform Safety Audits as assigned by the Safety Manager. Enter corrective actions into Industry Safe System and report out the status of completion. Manage the accountability program documents (new hire paperwork, monthly safety quizzes, incident investigations, incident corrective actions, audit corrective actions, SOP/SWI observations, and equipment inspections) from each area and distribute monthly reports. Track all incentive programs and manage reward distribution, i.e., Drivers Incentive Program, Be Safe Program. Clerical updates to all written programs or safety procedures as assigned. Maintain MSDS online, produce chemical labels as needed, and track hazardous waste records. Assist with facility safety inspections and job hazard analysis as needed.
